2 graduations and a weekend in DC
On May 18, 2022, I graduated from Columbia University with a MS in Electrical Engineering and a specialization in research.

My mom and Lauren came to visit and celebrate.

Lauren wore my hat on the walk to lunch and she got way more people saying congratulations on the street than I did.

I got two awards. One was a Columbia Data Science Institute (DSI) scholarship, and the other was the MS Research Award for my "superb contribution" to the smart city intersection research group.

We went to the statue of liberty and Ellis Island.

And we went for walks in central park.

After hours of roasting in the sun during commencement, we took a bunch of pictures.

What's next? I got a job at Qualcomm in San Diego as a GPU research engineer. I'll be working on the Adreno GPU in high end Android phones. GPUs (graphics processing units) are traditionally for rendering graphics, but in the last decade they have become the workhorse of AI and machine learning computation.
I'll be driving across the country in late July to San Diego. I start working in August.

Davidson Class of 2020 Graduation - May 22, 2022
Then, immediately following the Columbia graduation, I flew to Davidson for class of 2020 graduation that got postponed for two years. This felt more like a reunion, and it was a lot of fun.

Grandma Ginny is a legend among my friends because she hosted us for 5 days in St. Croix. See this post.

Graeme was actually lighting up the dance floor so much on Saturday night that he wore holes through his shoes.

It's so nice to visit familiar places with the same people who brought those places to life.

Washington DC
The following weekend I went to DC to catch up with these guys (and Hannah and Jaysa not pictured):

Lots of scootering, lots of museums, good times.

Every time we hang out there's a foot race. Jack wins pretty much every time, but will never say it. There's a video this time to prove it.
